First, I have read the rules twice, specifically to check if I could "cuss". Not that I cuss much, only when people start wasting our time with posts about what number they are. At least have the decency to put in the header that it's a worthless post. Posting something called "Amazing" just makes me think that there might be something worth reading, even if it is form Hal/Wally.

Second, the rule does say no obscenities. It then goes on to talk about what seems to be a pornographic or erotic picture. I construed this to mean no explicit gifs or text. The word obscenity is vauge and I personally have never considered swear words to be obscene, so it didn't come accross that way for me.

Third. The word shit isn't obscene by any stretch. Basically, at some point the upper class decided that the word was impolite because it was used by common people to describe a bodily function that the nobles found repugnant, so they phased it out of their vocabulary and began using euphamisms. Shit is basically the victim of class snobbery inspired laguage policing. It's a valid word, and the reasons for it being considered impolite have nothing to do with obscenity, religion or any other sort of thing. Therefore I cannot see it as obscene, and will continue to use it on the rare occasions it is called for. If Alvaro wishes me to stop using it I will, since this his is system and we are guests here; until then I consider the posting of lame number messages to be far more subjectively "obscene" than any description of a natural bodily function.

I suppose you're right but I think Al's worried about kids coming on to this board and reading posts with graphic language!! And about the numbers they're just a little game all the old guys on the boards play!! It's kinda like a competition or race!! It's just good, clean, annoying to some(or most), fun!!!

> When I saw that MY Captain had green blood, courtesy of Liefield I knew this man knew nothing about Captain America. He's taken one of the greatest comic book heroes ever and single-handedly run him into the ground. The heroes reborn debacle, as far as Cap is concerned, is a bad idea supported by worst execution. Glad to know others feel as I do.
The Red Skull never posed a greater threat to the Living Legend than Liefield.

AGENT AMERICA : No cheap knockoff . (458)

Posted by jamie on May 18, 1997 at 19:32:21 PDT

Dear Readers,

I respect all of your opinions even if I strongly disagree .
I couldn't decline on you anymore on this one .
Agent America is my sixth favorite superhero .
I love his costume and his villians .
I realize Agent America isn't exactly a very original
charctar, but I like him anyway .
I think what Rob Liefeld ( my second favorite artist ) did
was really cool, because he got booted off of Cap
for whatever, and now he's coming back in Marvel's
face .
Marvel I heard, is filing a lawsuit against Liefeld .
They are just doing this to be a thorn in his side .
Agent America is an excellent superhero no matter
what anyone says .

Porcelain Cap statue- where? (459)

Posted by Charles Nicolosi on May 19, 1997 at 07:34:50 PDT

I saw in a price listing in Combo a couple months ago about a
Captain America porcelain statue (They also listed a
Punisher, and several others).

I've been looking for it but can't find it anywhere. If anyone
has ANY information on who makes it or where it can be
purchased, I would be VERY greatful.

Thanks!

Jamie:

You have a right to your opinion, and I want slander you for that. I do think, however, that Liefeld is showing just how clueless he is when it comes to writing a comic. Why steal a good idea? The only reason I can think of is that he can't come up with a better or more creative idea himself, so he's using his old Cap stories (which weren't very good to begin with!). As far as Marvel being a thorn in poor Rob's side, how do you think Marvel views his current Agent America comic? Couldn't they see this as (as you call it) "coming back in Marvel's face"? And if it is, then why is it petty for Marvel to "come back in 'Rob's' face"? If Rob does it, why is he surprised when others do it to him? Just my $0.02!

Happy Birthday,

Bubba2

> Boy did I word that wrong! What I meant to say is that the cease is true, but Marvel is too late. Agent America #1 is for sale in American Entertainment #93! Sorry about the way I worded it the first time!

The fact that it is already solicited doesn't mean anything. It was those published solicitations that gave Marvel enough evidence to publish the cease & decist. The chances that anyone who orders the comic will actually get it are very slim. Marvel has more than enough grounds to prevent Rob from publishing it, or at the very least tie him up in court over it for so many years that he will give up on the idea.

How can a character be one of your favorites when he has never actually appeared in any published comic? All anyone has seen of this character is the promotional art and some blurbs. Don't you care at all what sort of personality or characterization he has?

> I realize Agent America isn't exactly a very original
> charctar, but I like him anyway .

Saying he isn't very original is a vast understatement. Him and his supporting cast are blatant copies.

> I think what Rob Liefeld ( my second favorite artist ) did
> was really cool, because he got booted off of Cap

Oh yes, it is very professional of him. He was fired for not meeting the requirements set up in his contract, which he willingly signed. Marvel did not do anything wrong in firing him. Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone that ever failed in their job and was fired for it acted as immaturely as Liefeld is?

> Marvel I heard, is filing a lawsuit against Liefeld .
> They are just doing this to be a thorn in his side .

No, they are doing it to protect their copyrights. If they let Liefeld's blatant infringement pass, they risk losing their exclusive right to the character. Marvel would be stupid not to block Liefeld. Any company with an ounce of sense would be doing the same thing.

> Agent America is an excellent superhero no matter
> what anyone says .

How do you know? What comic have you read with him in it? Other than the Captain America comics he was copied from?

Pretty sure this isn't what you're talking about, but the pewter one is at Toys R us and is pretty cool - costs about $25.

>>Back to the size of Cap's Shield. In Cap #227, he was able
to slip the shield under the front of his chain mail uniform
and conceal it from a "Red Skull". That makes for a very small shield.
Harry gave some parameters on the Shield but without a Marvel
reference. Anybody know the exact dimensions of C.A.'s shield????
